The Little Spokane River Natural Area is a Washington State protected area, which means no motorized use and a focus on preservation. The main trail is about 5 miles round-trip on a flat natural surface. It's shared with hikers and kayakers (the river is popular for paddling), so keep a moderate pace. The area is especially beautiful in fall when the cottonwoods turn gold. A Discover Pass is required for parking at the main trailhead on St. George Road.

The best time to ride in Aspen. Trails are fresh, temperatures are cooler at altitude, and you'll beat the afternoon crowds on popular routes like Maroon Bells.

Late Morning (10 AM–Noon)

Great for longer rides when fully acclimatized. Aim to be off exposed ridgelines by early afternoon as afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer.

Aspen summers bring rapid afternoon thunderstorms, especially above treeline. Start early and plan to return before 2–3 PM. Always bring a rain layer.
